Traveling Within Singapore

Getting around Singapore is a breeze with one of the world's finest transportation system:

You should be able to hail a cab without any problems in most parts of Singapore. It is always best though to get a cab from one of the numerous taxi stands in Singapore - hotels and shopping centre taxi stands are a sure bet.

Common Taxi Booking Hotline: Dial +65 6342 5222 or +65 6 DIAL CAB to book a taxi

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) system is probably the fastest way to get around Singapore besides taxis. You can download the train route map from www.smrt.com.sg and use it to navigate your way around our island. Stored value cards, locally known as ez-link cards are required for travelling on public transport. They can be purchased from the TransitLink Ticket Office located at selected SMRT stations, and standard value tickets may be purchased from General Ticketing Machines (GTMs) located at all SMRT stations.

Fares range from SGD 0.90 to SGD 3.00 for a single trip, depending on the distance traveled. Most public buses operate from around 6 am to 12am daily. Visit gothere.sg for more information regarding traveling within Singapore.

When you make your hotel bookings, remember to enquire about airport transfers. If details are not available, the taxi stands at the airport are abundant and well-manned by operators who will be familiar with your transportation needs.
